Children’s author, Ursula Dubosarsky, and illustrator, Walter Di Qual, will visit Camden Library to launch and promote their new book The Carousel.



One winter’s day my dad and I
Went down to see the carousel.
We stood and watched as round and round
The little horses rose and fell.



So begins the magical journey of a small girl and a wooden horse. A journey of music and mirrors, of green hills and sunlit skies, of wishes and freedom. Charles Lindall @ Camden Library

Local Antarctica enthusiast, Charles Lindall, will talk about the historic expedition to Antarctica undertaken and led by Sir Douglas Mawson from 1911 to 1914 as The Australasian Antarctic Expedition. 2011 is the centenary of this expedition and this will generate a lot of interest in this subject and will be brought to life by Charles, who will show videos and slide shows to illustrate
his talk.

Charles Lindall has built a 1/30th scale model of Mawson’s Hut as it was in 2005 when he visited it and a 1/3rd scale model of a ‘nansen’ type polar sledge, and these will be on display at the
library during the event on 22nd June.

The Mawson’s Huts Foundation will be involved in the event as well, to the extent that their publications will be available and sales will help to raise funds for the building this year of a full size replica of the Huts on the waterfront in Hobart. Charles’ interest in Mawson, his Huts and expeditions is intense and his knowledgeable talk on these subjects is one not to be missed.

Jessica Cartwright will visit Camden Library to talk about her new book, Fallen Grace, the first of a trilogy. The book explores the world of vampires and is a complex web of forbidden love, family secrets and human frailty that leaves readers wanting to know more. Its two protagonists are Grace, who was changed into a vampire almost 200 years ago at 18 years old, and Alex, who, at 17, has no idea that his family is a powerful vampire clan. As Grace protects Alex, she begins to wonder if she can keep him safe from an ancient prophecy and if they can be kept safe from each other?

Jessica is a debut novelist from the Macarthur region and resides in the area with her husband. She’s an avid reader and looks forward to contributing to the literary world with this, her first novel. She is currently hard at work on the second and third installments of the trilogy.

Come and hear Jessica talk about her book and meet her whilst she sign copies afterwards. It will be an exciting evening.
